Director of Technical Training and Development

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports To:
Vice President of Engineering
Office Location: Schaumburg, IL 

Position Overview
The Director of Technical Training and Development administers and creates technical training programs for design professionals, university professors and students, and CRSI members and staff. This position coordinates the types and content of the training programs in conjunction with the technical activities of CRSI Committees and staff.

This position offers growth potential within the Engineering team and may evolve to include oversight of additional technical staff and expanded leadership responsibilities. 

Responsibilities and Duties  
  â€¢ Develop training programs that offer Professional Development Hours for design professionals, including programs based on CRSI Design Guides and the CRSI Constructability Initiative.
  â€¢ Develop training programs for university professors and students to enhance understanding of steel reinforced concrete design and detailing.
  â€¢ Develop training programs for CRSI member companies and staff to enhance understanding of structural design and code development.
  â€¢ Work with the CRSI Senior Director of Communications and Outreach to populate and organize content on our e-learning site, Rebar U.
  â€¢ Serve as staff liaison on CRSI technical committees as assigned.
  â€¢ Serve on ACI and other technical committees as assigned.
  â€¢ Provide technical support and guidance to CRSI members, staff, and professional members.
  â€¢ Coordinate with the Independent Manufacturers Certification Committee to administer the certification program. 

Qualifications/Skills
  â€¢ Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  â€¢ Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
  â€¢ Minimum five (5) years’ experience working as a structural engineer at a consulting firm or contractor.
  â€¢ Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills with client facing interaction.
  â€¢ Possess general knowledge and experience in national building codes and standards.
  â€¢ Must be able to work independently and in team environments (in office preferred but remote considered).
  â€¢ Limited travel required.
  â€¢ Qualified candidates must currently reside in the United States.

Physical Demands
The majority of the work is performed in an office environment with minimal physical exertion.

Executive Summary
The Market Insights & Digital Assets Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for architecting the data-driven future of CRSI. This individual serves as the primary steward of the Institute’s digital ecosystem, transforming raw market data into high-level strategic intelligence. This role acts as a central hub of support—partnering with our Regional Managers, Finance, Membership Services, and Engineering teams to drive organizational growth, technical accuracy, and member value. 

Strategic Pillars of Responsibility
I. Cross-Functional Strategic Support
This position serves as a critical resource for internal stakeholders, ensuring data and digital assets are leveraged to meet diverse departmental objectives:
  â€¢ Regional Managers: Provide localized market data and territory-specific insights to support regional outreach and influence career pathway decisions.
  â€¢ Finance Department: Support revenue modeling and external revenue path development; provide data-driven tracking of ROI for organizational initiatives.
  â€¢ Membership Services: Optimize iMIS utilization to streamline recruitment and retention; provide database support and advanced queries to enhance member engagement.
  â€¢ Engineering & Technical Teams: Collaborate on the development and distribution of technical content, webinars, and continuing education programs for architecture and engineering professionals. 

II. Digital Asset Governance & Innovation
  â€¢ DAM System Ownership: Direct the implementation and optimization of Digital Asset Management (DAM) processes, ensuring enterprise-wide productivity and asset security.
  â€¢ AI & Workflow Transformation: Identify and integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions to automate workflows and enhance digital delivery.
  â€¢ Ecosystem Integration: Oversee the synergy between the Institute’s website, Association Management Systems (iMIS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS). 

III. Market Intelligence & Enterprise Data Analysis
This pillar serves as the engine for the Institute’s competitive awareness and data-driven strategy:
  â€¢ Market Intelligence Development: Lead the process for capturing and synthesizing market intelligence regarding construction industry trends, competitor movements, and macroeconomic shifts.
  â€¢ Advanced Data Analysis: Architect sophisticated data models and perform deep-dive analysis on construction market data to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
  â€¢ Strategic Visualization: Develop and maintain executive-level Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards (Power BI/Tableau) to facilitate data-informed decision-making for the Board and executive leadership.   
  â€¢ Forecasting & Reporting: Utilize historical data and statistical modeling to forecast future market demand and membership trends, producing “executive-ready” reports and strategy updates.
 

Candidate Profile
Technical Qualifications
  â€¢ Education: Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  â€¢ Experience: 5+ years of success in digital strategy, market intelligence, data product management, or digital transformation.
  â€¢ The Tech Stack: * Expert proficiency in SQL and BI Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
    o Proficiency in iMIS or similar Association Management Systems.
    o Strong understanding of APIs, Cloud Infrastructure, and AI/LLM implementation. The majority of the work is performed in an office environment with minimal physical exertion.
