PRESIDENT and CEO

The President and CEO is responsible to lead CRSI and ensure it maintains and grows its technical and engineering stature as the authority on concrete reinforcing steel construction in accordance with the CRSI’s mission and strategic plan. This role will focus on strengthening CRSI’s promotional role and programs and demonstrate the impact of CRSI efforts on decision-makers in the markets it serves. The President and CEO plays a key role in leading the development of CRSI’s organization profile, serving as its principal spokesperson with industry partners and stakeholders as well as developing and strengthening its advocacy program, including engagement and impact at the Federal level. This role has the responsibility to ensure the Institute is properly staffed, operates within budget, and work is aligned with the goals set forth by the Board of Directors.Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide leadership and management skills necessary to achieve the CRSI strategic goal of exceeding the forecasted Portland Cement Association U.S. reinforcing steel consumption
- Provide leadership and support to staff and committee chairs to ensure that committee work meets expectations, as well as oversee the strategic planning process
- Support and further develop CRSI’s high-performing staff through strong leadership, clearly defining duties and performance standards, and undertaking regular dialogue with staff members regarding their contributions (staff lives and works remotely)
- Assume responsibility for the administrative and financial well-being of CRSI, including development of the annual budget, routine monitoring and reporting on finances and budget, and overseeing and ensuring filing of tax returns and other financial and legal documents required to maintain CRSI’s legal and financial status
- Plan, formulate, and recommend for Board approval policies and programs that will advance the objectives of the Institute. In turn, executing decisions of the Board and developing specific policies, procedures, and programs to implement established Board policies
- Inform the Executive Committee and the Board of the conditions and operations of CRSI and of all important factors affecting CRSI and the industry that it represents
- Lead and delegate responsibilities to achieve the goals of each key area of marketing, engineering practice, member services, government affairs, and finance.
- Provide leadership in policy development and advocacy:
- Track current and emerging policy and technical issues;
- Assist in formulating and executing a plan for advocating positions on these issues;
- Communicate messages and policy positions to government affairs as necessary
- Oversee CRSI’s promotional efforts to strengthen the market position of steel-reinforced concrete construction, always seeking opportunities and venues to demonstrate their positive impact on decision-makers.
- Create and maintain a 3-year financial plan that supports the priorities of CRSI
- Develop and implement plans to expand CRSI’s membership base, including the development of a clear value proposition for membership, especially one demonstrating the impact of CRSI promotion programs on decision-makers
- Serve as the principal spokesperson for the Institute with responsibility for the Institute’s public relations program as well as its relationships with other associations, industry, government, and public and private service organizations
- Oversee planning of the annual spring membership convention and annual fall meeting
- Serve as the public face of the organization, communicating policies and priorities to external audiences through speaking engagements, media interaction, and testimony
- Serve as President of the CRSI Education and Research Foundation
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Committee or the Board of Directors
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree required; engineering and marketing disciplines preferred
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields preferred
- Prior experience reporting to a Board and expertise in association management preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to make quality presentations to both large and small groups
- Proven leadership experience, especially as demonstrated in team development and oversight, and Board governance
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with Institute members, stakeholders, other associations, and professional societies
- Experience in developing and implementing product promotion and marketing programs preferred
- National travel required

Director of Technical Resources

Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), is seeking a Director of Technical Resources for it’s Schaumburg, Illinois based association.Highlights
The Director of Technical Resources is responsible for developing and updating technical documents related to steel reinforced concrete design and construction. This role conducts technical presentations on both the national and local levels and provides technical support to CRSI staff, members of the Institute, and other industry connections. The Director of Technical Resources also supports marketing and promotional efforts related to the CRSI strategic plan and other Institute initiatives. The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute is a technical institute and Standards Developing Organization (SDO) that stands as the authoritative resource for information related to steel reinforced concrete construction. CRSI offers many industry-trusted technical publications, standards documents, design aids, reference materials and educational opportunities. - Develop new and update existing CRSI technical documents, including design guides and technical notes; review and edit technical content in documents developed outside the Engineering Department as needed
- Develop and conduct technical presentations to CRSI members and the Architect/Engineering/Contractor (AEC) community
- Develop technical articles for publication in industry magazines and journals
- Participate on CRSI’s R&D Committee and review and support development of R&D proposals
- Review and support development of national code and standard proposals and represent CRSI on prominent technical committees as needed
- Assist with project conversions to concrete-framed structures
- Develop technical material geared to professors and university/college students to advance the understanding of the use and benefits of steel reinforced concrete
- Develop and deliver tools and programs to support CRSI member training and education
- Participate in activities in support of the implementation of the CRSI strategic plan, including participation in the CRSI Constructability initiative
Who You Are
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering required
- Licensed Structural Engineer or Professional Engineer with a specialization in structural engineering required
- Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of industry experience preferably in a structural engineering consulting firm. First-hand involvement in the design, detailing, and construction of steel reinforced concrete structures is mandatory
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey information in an easy to understand, compelling, and engaging manner
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Salary Range
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including internal equity, market data, the candidate’s qualifications- including but not limited to specialty skills, prior relevant industry experience, relevant degrees or certifications (e.g. CPA, JD). The salary range estimate below is inclusive of all departments within the firm, and offered salaries may vary within the given range between departments. Region Manager

Overview
Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), is seeking a Region Manager for the Pacific Northwest Region of the U.S. (Pacific Northwest, Mountain West).
Highlights
- Work is based in a home-office with a minimum of 50% travel within the Pacific Northwest Region of the U.S. as well as occasional national travel
- Serve as the primary CRSI staff contact responsible for all market development and business within the assigned region
- Positively impact the use of steel reinforced concrete construction in buildings and other target markets
- Interact with team members across the institute to promote services
Major Responsibilities
- Maximize the market share of reinforcing steel usage within the region, reporting activity and success measures as appropriate
- Develop, implement, and maintain regional strategic plans for market development and member services
- Serve as the primary CRSI staff contact responsible for all market development and region and chapter business
- Develop and maintain accurate databases of contact information
- Participate in CRSI national activities through committee membership, document review, and national plan development
- Support membership and member services to engage and attract members in the region
Regional Program Tasks
- Conduct presentations and workshops to target audiences; be a resource for regional architectural schools and university professors
- Contribute regional information for use in internal and external newsletters
- Prior experience reporting to a Board and expertise in association management preferred
- Provide assistance and be a resource to designers and contractors
- Conduct ongoing market research within the region to develop new strategies to reach and interact with our members and potential members
- Utilize CRSI chapter seminars to reach local designers, and develop a speaker’s bureau for regional use
- Coordinate chapter meetings region conferences national technical meetings
- Foster partnering with allied group; set up and conduct joint programs and get commitments for joint funding where appropriate
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or in Business, specifically in Sales or Marketing
- Professional registration, or the ability to obtain professional registration, desired
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural design or construction management preferred. Experience in the transportation sector (bridges or pavements) would be beneficial
- Market development experience and/or familiarity with trade association promotion programs and trade shows
- Experience in public speaking, sales presentations, or project promotion strongly desired
- Skilled in providing promotion, education, technical assistance, communication, member services and coordination of region activities
- Ability to travel 50% of the time within the region with preferred location (home office) close to major transportation hubs within the region

The salary range estimate below is inclusive of all departments within the company, and offered salaries may vary within the given range between departments. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this level is $96,000-125,000k annualized, not including other competitive benefits.
