LCA Services for CRSI Industry-Wide Rebar EPD (2027-2032)
The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) is seeking a qualified LCA practitioner to support the development, review, and publication of an industry-wide average Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for reinforcing steel (rebar) in accordance with the current Smart EPD Product Category Rules (PCR).
Our membership includes both rebar mills and fabricators across North America. We invite the LCA practitioner to submit a proposal for LCA services as outlined below:
Project Overview
– Scope: Industry-average EPD for fabricated reinforcing steel products produced by CRSI member companies across North America.
– PCR Reference: Smart EPD PCR for Designated Steel Construction Products LINK
– Timeline: Project kickoff anticipated [Q1-2026]; completion and publication by [Q1/Q2- 2027].
Please provide a proposal including the following elements:
- LCA practitioner Role:
– Coordination with CRSI staff, member mills/fabricators, and selected program operator.
– Oversight of EPD development in compliance with the Smart EPD PCR and ISO 14025. - Process Description:
– Outline of required documentation, communication flow, and review timelines.
– Any templates or forms to be completed by CRSI or its members.
- Experience:
– Brief overview of your experience as LCA practitioner for similar EPDs (especially for steel, concrete, or building products).
- Cost Proposal:
– Fee schedule for LCA services, including third-party review and publication costs.
– Payment terms and cancellation policy.
- Deliverables & Timeline:
– Anticipated project milestones, review periods, and publication timeline.
– Support for clarifications during the review process.
- Additional Information:
– Any value-added services, stakeholder communication support, or best-practice recommendations.
