Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (ME-PDG)
The National Cooperative Highway Research Program, working with Applied Research Associates, Inc. developed Project 1-37A, the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (ME-PDG), for the design of new and rehabilitated pavement structures. The ME-PDG is intended to create a transition from existing empirical-based pavement design procedures to procedures that rely on the strengths of advanced analytical modeling capabilities combined with field performance observed in "real-world" pavements.

HIPERPAV
The Federal Highway Administration and The Transtec Group, Inc. developed HIPERPAV as a tool which can be used by planners, designers and contractors. During the planning stage, HIPERPAV can be used to develop quality control specifications for a particular project based on the available materials and climatic conditions of the region in study. Designers can use HIPERPAV to optimize their pavement designs based on the best selection of the design variables that will produce a better end product and guarantee long-term pavement performance while maximizing economy. Contractors can use HIPERPAV to prevent expensive repairs by predicting potential damage due to unexpected conditions and determine the best set of factors that will prevent damage to the pavement. With HIPERPAV Suppliers can manage the temperature of the concrete based on their mix designs and specific climate and project conditions.
