Corrosion Protection
Deicing salts are often used in northern and high-elevation climates to keep roads and bridges clear of ice and snow. The salts can wreak havoc on transportation infrastructure, however, unless measures are taken to protect the materials from corrosion. Rapid and severe deterioration of unprotected bridge decks—and the high cost of repair and replacement—can be avoided by using epoxy-coated reinforcing bar.
