Research and Technological Advances in Reinforced Concrete Bridges
Here are some resources that bridge owners, designers, and builders should find useful (links will open in new windows):
American
Segmental Bridge Institute
Incorporated in 1989, the American Segmental Bridge Institute promotes the quality
and use of concrete segmental bridges and holds an annual two day seminar each
spring on "Design and Construction of Segmental Concrete Bridges," co-sponsored
by a state department of transportation. Web site contains an extensive list
of technical and professional links.
Association
for Bridge Construction and Design
Founded in 1976 by a group of educators, engineers, builders, and
material suppliers, the Association for Bridge Construction and
Design was formed
to educate designers, builders, government officials, and the general
public about the vital role of safe bridges in our society. With
several chapters

provides a forum for members to exchange and develop new ideas
and techniques. Web
site contains an extensive list of links regarding all facets of bridge
appreciation, science, design, and construction.
Federal
Highway Administration, Office of Bridge Technology
A division of the Federal Highway Administration's infrastructure program,
the Office of Bridge Technology serves as a rich, national resource for
technical and legislative information regarding all aspects of bridge design
and construction. Web site provides a wealth of access to Office of Bridge
Technology staff, publications, and bridge-related links.
Multidisciplinary
Center for Earthquake Engineering Research
Established in 1986 by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Multidisciplinary
Center for Earthquake Engineering Research develops and applies knowledge
and advanced technologies to reduce earthquake losses. Sponsored by the
NSF, the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, and other state governments, academic institutions, foreign governments,
and private industry.
National
Concrete Bridge Council
The National Concrete Bridge Council promotes quality in concrete bridge
construction; gathers and disseminates information on design, construction,
and condition of
concrete bridges; and provides information to codes and standards groups. Web
site provides extensive lists of both organization and industry contacts.
Portland
Cement Association
Industry organization maintains an extensive section of their Web site
devoted to the latest in bridge technology, research projects, technical
publications,
a newsletter, and the Biennial Bridge Awards Competition.
