Selecting the optimum building structural system is the critical first step in creating a successful project! By simplifying the design process, everyone on the project team — architects, engineers, contractors and owners — can focus on the most effective, economical design for the building.
Solid and rational criteria for structure type selection are provided using CRSI's "Guide to Structural System Selection." The second critical step consists of selecting bay sizes for the structural system, evaluating selected structural systems, and developing comparative cost estimates.
